Half term means tree work at schools!

Tree surgeons in Colchester

Dedham Vale Tree Surgery, nestled in the heart of Constable Country, have recently won a tree surgery contract with a large trust of schools based within Colchester. Following receiving the surveys for 11 of the schools, which outlined every tree at each site and explained the condition and recommended works, our Director, Harry was tasked with the mammoth task of scheduling and prioritising the works. Though the team have enhanced DBS checks which allows them to work around children, it was the Trust’s preference for all the work to be carried out within the half terms.

To make matters worst, we’ve had the windiest start to a year that we can remember, with 3 major storms all within January alone. This resulted in a very mature Oak tree coming down at one of the schools which wasn’t due to have any remedial works at all, but if you know, Dedham Vale Tree Surgery, we don’t shy away from a challenge! Two member of our tree surgeon team, William and George from Stoke by Nayland took to processing the tree and removing as much of the waste that they could with the use of our Timberwolf wood chippers, which still left us with a sizeable tree than needed removing from the bottom of the school’s field. We were able to call upon the help of another team with 2 tractors, 3 trailers, a tele-handler, and MultiOne loader. As if the weather could get worse, we ended up with torrential rain on the day too, we couldn’t believe it!

Despite the weather, it was a great week working at the schools and we’ll be doing it all over again in the Easter half term.
